Missing key-remapping feature
Historically, the Enter
key on my keybaord does not work for almost ten years.
And on GNU/Linux I’ve been using xmodmap -e 'keysym 0xff57 = 0xff8d'
since the first day.
When I tried to switch from X11 to Wayland today (Oct 17, 2021), it does not work1 when sending from KDE Connect2 on my Android device. There is no keyboard input from Android to PC in the app on Wayland session as well.
Another sad fact is that onboard
crashes when I click on it, while florence
simply won’t run.
Besides that, I learned that xmodmap
is now deprecated3, maybe I should switch to a more modern solution.
Great expectation
If my keyboard just works, it should be fine to use Wayland.
And there is caps2esc4 that may work in both X11 and Wayland, which sounds quite promising. Maybe I’ll try it some day.
I’ll try it again should I get the time (and money) to build a gaming PC one day in the near future.
